One of the most precious of fabrics, with a history spanning over centuries, cashmere origins involve some of the most isolated parts of the eastern cultures. If properly cared for it will last a lifetime. In the 14th century, a well-recognized weaver combed goat wool and handmade a pair of socks to be gifted to the king of Kashmir Sultan Qutubdin which immediately led to his amazement by its durability and fineness. This gesture is one of the reasons that propelled the foundation of the local wool industry by bringing weavers from Turkestan.
